Privacy Policy

This policy describes information handled when you use Washington Residents Directory and the choices available to you. The site is a reference to public rolls and historical collections; it does not require an account or host official records.

Information You Submit

Search terms entered into a name, phone, or address box are sent to the third-party provider supplying those results; this site's servers do not retain a copy of the searches. If you send us a message, we receive its contents and use them to respond.

Basic Server Information

The hosting service records standard log details such as IP address, browser type, pages requested, and time stamps. We review these details in aggregate to maintain the site and understand which pages are used. Cookies or related tools may be used for basic analytics and, where applicable, advertising measurement.

How We Use It

We use this information to run the site, diagnose issues, measure traffic, and improve its pages. We do not sell visitor lists or assemble individual user profiles.

External Websites and Searches

Our links lead to state and county records services, libraries, archives, and separate search providers. Information you enter on those services is handled under their own privacy terms, including information entered into sponsored search tools.

Service Providers and Required Disclosures

Hosting and support providers process server logs as part of operating the site; analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic information described above. We disclose information when valid legal process requires it.

Safeguards and Retention

The site uses an encrypted connection, and server logs are retained only for the purposes described in this policy. Visitors do not create site accounts, so this site does not maintain account passwords or profiles.

Visitors Under 18

This reference is intended for adults, not children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18; if you believe a minor has sent information to the site, use the Contact page so the request can be routed appropriately.

Choices and Washington Privacy Rules

Our source review did not identify a general Washington consumer privacy statute that creates one universal opt-out for ordinary people-search profiles. The My Health My Data Act, chapter 19.373 RCW, focuses on consumer health data; it is not a general deletion law for public-record or directory entries. The Washington Public Records Act, chapter 42.56 RCW, governs access to qualifying records held by public agencies, subject to exemptions; it does not give this site control over those records.

Washington's Address Confidentiality Program (ACP), under chapter 40.24 RCW, provides eligible participants a substitute address for new state and local records and excludes their names and addresses from public voter lists. It does not erase older records or require private websites to remove their profiles. For a government record, contact the agency that holds it; verified official routing links appear on the Contact page.

Changes to This Policy

We will post policy revisions here. Continued use after a revision is posted indicates acceptance of the updated terms.
